Broken stuff is clutter. In our disposable society an electric kettle is only expected to last a couple of years before it goes phut. But many things can be mended - so sew the button back on your coat, take your boots to the repairers, replace the blown fuse in your hairdryer and get a new battery for your watch.

Sadly not everything can be saved. If your teapot has lost its handle it's time to say goodbye. Wherever possible recycle the materials like metal and old textiles.
