Are you still struggling to keep your New Year's resolution to finally clear the clutter from your home or office? Perhaps you are holding onto stuff not because you want to keep it but because you can't face dealing with it. So here is some inspiration to get you kickstarted. In this issue...
Make decluttering and getting organised your priority I ask my clients: "If I had a magic decluttering wand, what would you like to achieve?" Remember this question, as it is the key to staying focused. Do you want a minimal look? Do you want to open the kitchen cupboards without stuff falling out? Or do you just want a home for all your paperwork? Keep that vision at the top of your mind, and it will guide you. The two methods of decluttering... The Blitz... Set aside a couple of days, turn off the phone, make sure there are no distractions, and get going. Make it easier for yourself by playing your favourite music, and take a break every hour for a snack and a cup of tea - you'll need it! Enjoy the energising feeling of clearing clutter fast. The daily slot...Set aside anything from ten minutes to an hour a day, and start with the easiest jobs. Use a kitchen timer to monitor your time. If you keep it up, the daily slot will start showing results after a week or so, and is great for maintaining your clutter free state. Visit www.nomoreclutter.co.uk/tips.html for monthly tips on getting organised. I'm always happy to receive your questions for the clutter clinic. Sometimes a weekend blitz just isn't enough to get down to floor level with the clutter, and something more serious is required! As a new service, I'll tailor a package for your home or home office usually over a week. As well as the normal decluttering service, I'll arrange for unwanted items to be picked up. I'll arrange a skip if need be for major items, and we'll design and shop for new storage solutions for your space. If you would benefit from an end-to-end package with no more clutter doing all the arranging, then call me now, on 07974-076-675. Would you like to tell your clutter story to a journalist? I have been approached by a journalist from a glossy home magazine who wants to interview women between 30-50. Call or email me immediately if you're interested. Also, I get
requests regularly from TV and print journalists who want to tell people's
stories as part of a feature. I'd like to be able to introduce them to
past or present clients. If you'd like that, please drop me a line, and
I'll make the introduction when the next opportunity pops up. I've just read "The New Messies Manual" by Sandra Felton. This is a great book for people who find staying on top of clutter and domestic matters an uphill struggle. Available from Amazon and other outlets.
Sue Kay works with a wide range of clients to organise their home offices, declutter before a house move, prepare their spare room for a new baby and organise that shoe mountain. If you're selling your home, she can help you present it clutter-free for the market, to achieve a quick and profitable sale. For practical, sympathetic help call Sue on 07974 076 675 or check out the website at www.nomoreclutter.co.uk |
